re: dressing is about style and
self-discovery when your body changes.

I am happy you’re here!

I’m building a new wardrobe after losing 140 pounds. I’ve hated shopping for clothes, and I didn’t think style was for me.

Maybe you can relate, even if you haven’t lost half your body size. Welcome!

I write re: dressing for people whose bodies are changing. It happens multiple times in our lives: health issues, weight changes, childbearing, aging...

Re: dressing is the place where you can explore who you are through style. We all deserve clothes that help express who we are and who we want to be.

As I work my way through learning about style, I’ll share inspiration and practical information to help you build a wardrobe that fits your body and your style. I’ll share my mistakes so we can laugh together and you can avoid my blunders.

This is also where you can connect with other people who get the unique practical and personal challenges of going through physical changes.

Here, you can:

  • discover or re-discover your style

  • find clothes that fit!

  • learn to curate a wardrobe that reflects who you are

  • get advice from fashion and beauty experts, therapists, and health care professionals

  • be empowered to express yourself through clothes

  • feel more confident

  • become part of a supportive, encouraging community

Re: dressing is a journey we’ll walk together. You see, I’m still figuring all this out. As I share my experiences with style and self-discovery after losing 140 pounds, I’ll put on my journalist’s hat to find experts and information to help us all walk out of the door every day feeling good about who we are, what we’ve accomplished, and loving how we look.

What people say…

“This is so good! …Your posts are funny, informative, and deal with all the real things that happen and need attention, encouragement, and support.”—Lisa S

“There are so many people this can inspire or who can relate to it. People don’t talk about it in a nuanced kind of way. That’s kind of fire.”—Melanated Green Podcast

re:dressing AI Policy

Updated February 2026
I want to share my AI Policy with you, so you understand how I create content and how I use artificial intelligence.

  • I typically don’t use AI-generated images, video, audio, logos, or art. I’ve used the AI Clean Up feature on my iPhone to remove electric socket plates and hide my saggy chin.

  • I sometimes review AI style tools. When I do, I include those AI-generated images and video as part of the review, and make it clear so you know (usually in the caption).

  • I research and write all my newsletters myself without AI assistance, other than Google AI overviews while researching.

  • I fact-check information myself.

  • Ideas for content are my own and are inspired by readers, news, current events, and social media. I don’t use AI for newsletter ideas.

  • I occasionally use AI tools like Grammarly to proofread and edit.

  • I use AI to assist with SEO-optimized headlines, email subject lines, and email preview text.

  • I use AI for tasks like engagement analysis, trend analysis, creating schedules, and other organizational tasks.

  • I disable AI bots from using my Substack content as part of a training model.
